Project Description
Electri-Tech Inc retrofitted (17) 10-150 H.P. dust collectors at Port of Portland’s Terminal 5, to modern energy efficient controls. The previous across-the-line motor starters were replaced with ABB’s new ACS-580 variable frequency drive and new controls to integrate with the facility’s existing automation system. The new controls will monitor the required amount of air needed from the fans and adjust the motors accordingly, saving energy by only using what is required. The fans previously consumed 1,010 H.P.; by increasing efficiency, this consumption was reduced by 20% at an energy cost savings of $75,000/year.
